Fruit Bars

  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup confectioner’s sugar
  • 1 cup walnuts, pecans, or almonds
  • 1/2 cup butter, softened
  • 1/2 tsp cinnamon
  • 2/3 cup fruit spread, jam, or preserves

Heat oven to 375º. Pulse together the flour, sugar, nuts, butter, and cinnamon in the bowl of a food processer to evenly distribute the butter. Press two-thirds of crumbly mixture into the bottom of an ungreased 9x9x2-inch square pan. Spread with jam of your choice. Sprinkle the top with remaining crumbly mixture; pressing gently into the fruit.

Bake 20 to 25 minutes, until light golden brown. Cool completely and cut into 16 – 20 bars.

This recipe is easily doubled. In fact, we always make a double batch because despite their ease and simplicity, they are one of the best sweet bites ever.
